It's February! Mark your calendars for Monday, February 13th & be sure to celebrate GALENTINES DAY! It’s a special holiday to honor the women in your life: best friends, sisters, moms, aunts--whomever! It’s a chance to show them just how much they mean to you.
We actually have actress Amy Poehler and her character, Lisa Knope, from Parks and Recreation to thank for the holiday. She coined the term during the second season of the show in 2010. She said, “What is Galentines Day? Oh, it’s only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it….ladies celebrating ladies.”
So, grab your besties and plan a fun date, and be sure to let all the wonderful women in your life know how much you love them!!! Speaking of wonderful women, it is with deep sadness that we say good bye to a dear friend and beloved member of DSWC, Rita Dewinne, who passed away on January 22nd. Rita was an amazing volunteer in our community and will be greatly missed!!
